We grabbed carry out from this place for lunch, they were kind enough to take our order even though they closed in literally two minutes! My husband had the perch hoagie and I got chicken strips and fries to share with the littler person. His sandwich was awesome and I wish I had more time to look at the menu but the strips were good. Plus we got service with a smile even though we were the last customers of the day.

We went to The Stock Pot after a dreary day of rain at our campground. The decor kinda looks like a pool hall minus the pool tables. But the food, damn! There were 5 of us and every one of us loved what we got. I had the fish sandwich with fries. You could taste that the fries were freshly cut potatoes. And the tartar sauce had fresh pickles slivers in it. I wouldn't exactly call this place a dive, but you can definitely tell that they put the effort into the food rather than decor. My friend had the Ruben and she loved it. Make sure you bring cash though, they dont accept credit. There is an ATM at the bar next door.

We didn't set out to have lunch at the stock pot, rather one of four other options that didn't open until 4pm. Overall the food was delicious, especially the homemade soups and the service was excellent. We arrived right before closing and they were happy to take care of us with a smile. The only negative is that they don't accept credit cards, but the ATM in the vestibule solved that issue ($2.50 transaction fee). We had a nice lunch with reasonable prices with great service. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

A classic small town diner with pretty standard dishes. Stopped by around 2pm, and I really appreciated that fact that they were still serving both their breakfast and lunch menus. Had one of their burgers, which was solid-- nothing special, but still hits the spot. My friend had the mini burger soup combo and I have to say their chicken noodle soup was a bit... peculiar. Instead of noodles, they replaced it with chunks of dough resembling mini dumplings. Not sure what it was exactly, but would've just preferred regular noodles instead. The portions here are generous and overall, it was a filling meal.

BEST egg salad on homemade bread!! First time for 7 of us. There were raves for the homemade chicken noodle soup, the deep fried pierogies (special for the day) and the burger. Family has a place down in Lexington Village, it was worth the drive up. No fancy decor, and that's fine with me since the food was so good and reasonably price.

The Stock Pot is definitely an unassuming restaurant. There's not a lot of decoration, and it just looks like room with tables and chairs. However, the service is very good -- nice, friendly staff, attentive but not overly so. I had the Stock Pot salad, which had lots of lettuce, cucumbers, eggs, lightly fried chicken, bacon & cheese. It came with their house dressing, which is sort of a sweet & sour vinaigrette. I liked the dressing (the server said people either love it or hate it), but I don't think it's the right choice for that kind of salad; a thousand island or ranch would be a better complement. The iced tea didn't taste fresh-brewed, which always confounds me. Seriously, how hard is it to drop a few tea bags into some water? You really don't even need to boil the water! I never understand why restaurants use the mixes when bags are so much cheaper & easier. NOTE: They do NOT take credit or debit cards, although they do accept checks.

This place is so cute! It's cash only and homemade dishes. The staff was accommodating and their food was amazing.

The place was very crowded and loud for lunch on a Saturday. The atmosphere was home style and seat yourself, which is fine. The food was excellent, and came quickly. Turkey and swiss on rye, club sandwich and the cole slaw, all very good and large portions. We will be back!

Staying in our boat in the DNR run marina, (which is amazing BTW), so because we do not have a car, we are limited to walking distance. Stopped here for lunch today. Great, friendly service. Definitely a locals place (our preference), and down home dishes. Son had tuna melt with onion rings, both were excellent. I had a bowl of chili with waffle fries. Chili was tomatoe-y vs spicy, but decent. Waffle fries were yummy. Hubby had the soup and pierogi special. He didn't care for the tomatoe-y chili, and it was one large potatoes n cheese filled pierogi. The pierogi may have been home made, but what was odd is it was deep fried. Never have seen that before. But, I think it was too far from the norm for him. He wouldn't order this again. We had originally stopped at the Bank. But, a $12 burger (with NO fries BTW) was just crazy to us, so we left. Glad we came here. This was reasonably priced compared to others in this tourist town. Good food, and decent portion sizes.

Up north vacation with the family. Based on positive reviews, we decided to pop in for lunch. The decor is basic, but the service, food quality, and value were great. - Handmade burgers some of the best I've had in a long time - definitely try the Warrior Burger! - Egg Salad sandwich was solid. - BLT is a basic sandwich that they did well. - Kids options were typical, but well done. Chicken tenders were lightly battered - not typical tenders u see at every chain restaurant. Again, not fancy. But they do the basics REALLY well.

Service: We had a brunch reservation for 30 people. However, everyone decided to show up 2 hours early--because we are morning people and annoying that way. :) The staff rolled with it, smiled through the disruptive chaos that is our family, provided beyond exceptional service and made our morning pretty spectacular. I believe our primary server was Tiffany (blonde, curly hair, thin). She was terrific and clearly has stellar experience and serving skills. Kudos to you! But, also a kudos goes out to the entire staff who made all of the accommodations that they did. I am sure other patrons were probably a bit annoyed that we took over the restaurant and were ridiculously loud. Sorry for our mess! Food: The food was decent. It is similar to most small town cafes. Since we were with 30+ people, probably everything on the breakfast menu got ordered. Everyone left relatively pleased, so that says something, right? I'd definitely recommend this establishment based in service alone! But, the food wasn't half bad either. :)

The Stock Pot has a lot of problems. The lack of other restaurants in this small town has to be the only reason this place is still in business. Make sure u bring your cash because that's the only form of payment they accept. This place could seriously benefit from some minimum wage help. They didn't have a hostess or a single busser. At least a quarter of the tables were dirty at every moment, the entire time we were there. Unfortunately, we were seated directly in front of the door so we had the pleasure of having strangers invade our personal space often.. People had to awkwardly stand there and wait for a waitress to get an opportunity to clear and clean a table for them. I ordered a vegetable omelette and it was so terrible that I couldn't eat it. The eggs had a weird texture and tasted like they were purchased pre-scrambled (think egg beaters). When the waitress asked how our breakfast was I was honest and told her that I thought the eggs were awful.. The first thing she said was that the eggs were real. How is that ever a normal response to someone not liking their eggs?!? They must get complaints about them a lot or they are infact pre-scrambled and management tells them to use that response. The only positive thing I can say is that our waitress was nice and removed my meal from the bill without being asked. I would never give this restaurant another try.

Alright place for breakfast. Would definitely go again. Price was a bit more reasonable than their competition in the area. No credit cards accepted here.

If there were 6 stars, I'd give them 6. The Stock Pot is everything the chain and mall restaurants are not. It's a local joint that generations of locals and visitors alike have enjoyed for years. It's just like going to Grandma's for breakfast or lunch. The chicken soup with homemade noodles is ridiculous, all breakfast foods are amazing, the sandwiches are great and the perch dinner has several pieces of delicious fish, a salad and sides! You can even get takeout fried chicken dinners for 1 or 50. If you visit Port Austin and skip The Stock Pot, you've cheated yourself.

Good basic food and good service. Very clean, which is important to me. This was the best restaurant in the area. Ordered a basic burger, fries and coleslaw and all 3 were fresh and tasty. Will be back again.

Did you ever see that restaurant scene in "Five Easy Pieces"? Where Jack Nicholson has the confrontation with the waitress who won't give him what he wants to order? m.youtube.com/#/watch?de… My experience here was something like that, except I wasn't rude to the waitress like he ended up being. I ordered the breakfast with 2 eggs, bacon and toast and asked if I could have a biscuit instead of toast. That was okay. But when I asked if I could get a side of gravy to put on my biscuit, she wanted to charge me for an order of biscuits and gravy. But I told her the biscuit was instead of my toast so I was just ordering a side of gravy. This seemed to really confuse her. She went back to the kitchen to ask somebody else, then came out and said it was okay. I only got charged a dollar for the gravy, which was fine, but it wasn't very good. I've had way better. If you see the picture of my receipt you can see she had a hard time figuring out how to write up what I said. But it was real simple: two eggs, bacon, biscuit, gravy, oh, and coffee. How hard is that?

Stopped in for a late lunch with the family. The place was was not busy and we were waited on quickly. She took our order for a starter and the main dishes right away. For a starter we ordered the special "soup and pieroge". The soup came quickly....but no pieroge. After roughly 20 minutes the waitress let us know the kitchen thought they were done with our order and threw the ticket away. She assured us the food would be out soon. We waited and watched 2 separate parties leave because no one came to wait on them. 30 minutes later we had our salads and wraps. The fries that came with the wrap were cold. I'm not talking about being on the counter to long cold.. More like "did I even get cooked cold?" So if you are down to wait around a hour for some thrown together food give this place a try. Disappointed and not going back.

Had lunch here last Tuesday on our trip around the Thumb. Wide open dining room. Bonnie was our server and it turned out she was a transplant from Detroit. She was very friendly and willing to have a conversation with us. She answered a lot of questions about what was around town. Also told us about her menu faves. We went with the Wisconsin cheddar soup, Perch sandwich and a beef hoagie. Everything was excellent. The perch was very flavorful and not over breaded. Hoagie buns were slightly toasted and very good. The beef hoagie came with swiss cheese and it was running down the sides of the meat. This is a go to place in my book.

Four of us had lunch here. Everything was delicious and very reasonably price. The chicken noodle soup, egg salad sandwiches on homemade bread, the reuben sandwich, and the hot turkey sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes all really hit the spot. Very generous servings too. Good old fashioned home cooking at its best.
